What is private care at home?

Private care for the elderly at home is a professional caregiving service delivered in the familiar surroundings of home rather than in a nursing or residential facility. Our professional carers deliver personalised assistance tailored to meet your or your loved one’s needs. Services include personal care, medication administration, companionship, and respite care, ensuring comprehensive support for a better quality of life.

We understand how important it is to maintain your independence and dignity. Engaging in activities you enjoy, such as gardening and visiting your local community, can significantly impact your well-being. To ensure you live a healthy and happy lifestyle, we offer various forms of private care for elderly individuals and beyond. This includes 24-hour live-in care for complex conditions, respite care while your primary carer takes a break to rest and recharge, and hourly support throughout the week.

Private care in the home allows you to maintain your preferred lifestyle while receiving personalised, one-on-one support from a skilled and compassionate carer, dedicated to enhancing your quality of life and overall well-being.

Does your loved one need private care?

There are many reasons why you or your loved one may require private care:

Memory loss: This is often associated with conditions like Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia and can significantly impact your day. Private care at home can help you to establish a routine.

Frequent slips & falls: Our care professionals will carry out home safety checks to prevent the risk of injuries by removing potential hazards within the home environment.

Lack of self-care: If you are having trouble with self-care, our experts can help you bathe, groom, and use the toilet, ensuring you remain comfortable and confident at home.

Loneliness: Feeling lonely can significantly impact mental and physical health. Private care for the elderly provides companionship, regular social interaction, and emotional support.

Not eating or drinking: Nutrition and hydration are very important to maintain. Our carers can prepare meals, provide feeding assistance, and encourage regular fluid intake throughout the day.

Improve quality of life: Our team of carers can introduce new activities and increase social interaction and experiences that you may not be able to achieve day-to-day by yourself.

Private nursing care at home

At Cherished Home Care, our priority is to ensure you have the choice and independence to live life on your own terms, within the comfort of your home, no matter where you are in your care journey. If you are living with a specialist condition such as dementia, Parkinson’s, or multiple sclerosis, our private nursing care at home can provide you with the necessary support and assistance.

All our carers have extensive experience and complete our five-day induction programme, which includes the input of our in-house dementia expert and occupational therapists. This training covers a range of clinical tasks, including PEG feeding, skin care, and pressure area care, to ensure you receive unrivalled support in the place where you have formed many fond memories.

Private nursing care offers many benefits compared to moving into a residential home. These include reducing slips and falls, providing excellent infection control, and proactively minimising hospital admissions.

How can I find private home care?

When seeking private home care, we advise conducting thorough online research. Look for positive feedback from other clients and ensure that the services offered align with your specific care requirements. Our home care checklist can help you to plan this.

Private home care can be delivered either through a fully managed service or by opting for an introductory carer. At Cherished Home Care, we are a fully managed and regulated provider. This means that, unlike other private care agencies, we directly train our carers, ensuring they possess the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver exceptional support.

In contrast, choosing an introductory carer means relying on an unregulated service where family and friends might need to manage replacements if a carer becomes unavailable due to illness. With our services, however, we cover such contingencies, providing peace of mind and uninterrupted care.

Cost of private care

Hourly private care starts at £29 per hour, while live-in private care begins at £1,445 per week. The exact cost will depend on your specific care needs and the level of care required, which will be discussed during your complimentary care assessment with one of our experienced care managers.

As a token of appreciation, we are proud to be one of the few care providers that refund your setup fee after four weeks of receiving our support.

For couples, live-in private care is often more cost-effective than care homes or domiciliary care. This is because an additional small fee is applied for the second individual, instead of paying for two separate rooms in a residential care facility.
